Key
worker System |
Pinocchio's
have a key worker system in place. A key worker is an employee
who is the parent's first contact within the nursery. The
key worker's role is to monitor the child's all round development
whilst at nursery, completing the child's profile and helping
to deal with any issues that may arise at home or in the nursery.
Getting to know a child's key worker is important so that
parents and key workers can work together to ensure an enjoyable
and valuable time is had at nursery by all. |

Daily slips |
Daily
slips are used for any child who uses nappies or is potty
training. The daily slip is issued to the parent at the end
of the nursery session with a summary of the child's day.
The daily slip is an important reference to the parents as
to the child's routine for that day i.e. what their child
has to eat, sleeps, nappy changes and daily activities; also
any medication that has been administered is also recorded
here. Daily slips are individual to each child. Daily slips
may only be completed by employees of Pinocchio's. |

Birth
to Three Children's profiles |
Children's
profiles aim to show the child's development in the nursery.
Key workers are responsible for writing weekly observations;
this evidence is used for the one to one parent's evenings
in May, although parents are able to see the profile at any
point throughout the year. Supervisors are responsible for
ensuring that key workers are completing children's profiles,
the Supervisor is there to offer help and support upon request
to the key workers. Parent's nights are held in November and
May. |

Birth to Three
|
The
Birth to Three framework refers to planned learning experiences
based on different aspects of the children’s development
and learning. The Birth to Three framework helps staff to
plan activities and experiences that promote children’s
learning and development in:
1. Relationships
2. Respect
3. Responsive Care
At Pinocchio’s a room meeting is held to discuss the
forthcoming weeks /months educational themes and by what methods
we will use to cover all aspects of this. At this age the
learning is not conducted in a formal setting, but by using
different activities, the child learns through play.
In conjunction with the Birth to Three,
the children are observed and monitored throughout the three
areas of learning, thus enabling the planning to reflect the
individual child's abilities. Each child has their own observation
file; both staff and parents contribute to this document resulting
in a comprehensive file. |
