Heriot watt Nursery Facilities
New Pinocchio's first Outdoor classroom - Open now!
Pinocchio’s Nursery Heriot-watt is situated in the middle of Heriot-watt University Campus. The nursery is exceptionally bright and airy inside with fantastic facilities, indoor and out. The nursery has parking outside for drop-off and pick-up.
There are 2 garden areas- Under 2 years, over 2 years and many local rural walks. The campus is full of beautiful woodland areas for the children to explore and we have a strong connection with the local community within the campus.
We have 4 playrooms at Heriot-watt;
- A Baby/Toddler Room for children ages 3 months to around 1 yrs - 1 1/2yrs.
- A Junior Room which is for our 1-2 yr olds,
- A Early Years Room for our children ages 2-3yrs,
- A Early Learning room which caters for our 3-5yr olds.
The playrooms are set up and resourced with stimulating, challenging and educational experiences and resources for the children to explore throughout their nursery day.
The Early Years and Early Learning room offer indoor / outdoor play between 9am- 5pm. This allows the children to make their own choices about where they would like to play and explore encouraging their independence.
The children come into nursery in the morning excited about their day ahead. They have a wide variety of play equipment that they can explore and have the freedom to make their own choices about their play and nursery day. They learn how to share toys and take turns at nursery which is all character building for them.
The children especially enjoy going on big adventures to our local woodland areas, library, transport trips, the museum and much more. We have strong relationships with our local community and the children especially enjoy helping out at the local shop, bag packing and visiting various places within the university.
Nursery increases the children’s independence and confidence by having the companionship of other children and learning how to play properly with others, the children have the chance to make relationships with other adults as well as children.
We have a motivated and passionate staff team who strive to provide the best outcomes for children. They all have their individual passion in which they explore with the children through their nursery champions roles;
Some of the our Nursery champions are Becky with dance classes, Stacey does a fun , interactive yoga class and Carmen teaches a Spanish class.
The children enjoy coming to Pinocchio’s because they are the heart to our big family!
